KIM V. GOLDSMITH & OCHRE COMMUNICATIONS

KimdeliveringAnimalinArtLecture_180609Kim has lived and worked in western NSW since 1992. She was raised on a large farming property north-west of Coonamble and studied agriculture and journalism before working as a specialist rural print and radio journalist for eight years. Kim and her family also ran their own mixed farming operation near Collie between 1998 - 2007. Today, she lives and works on the outskirts of Dubbo.

It was during Kim’s time with ABC Radio (1992 - 1996) that she identified a need for a regional communication service that would help organisations and individuals tell their story more effectively. In 1996, Kim started delivering that service through a consulting and training business, which became Ochre Communications in 2000.

Today Ochre Communications services private, public and not-for-profit organisations with an interest in issues-based communication with an emphasis on communities of interest, working in the sectors of rural industry, natural resource management, regional development and tourism, as well as regional arts. Kim is also a practicing visual artist with a specialist interest in digital media and sensory installation. She has been exhibiting her work since 2004 and is active within the regional arts community.

Find out more about Kim Goldsmith by listening to this ABC Radio interview from 6 January 2010.
